Permissions Dimmy needs

Dimmy asks for the minimum permissions needed to record your voice and paste the result. Everything is granted by the OS itself, not by Dimmy. You can revoke any time from system settings.

Microphone (all platforms)

Required. Without microphone access Dimmy cannot record audio. The OS will prompt the first time you press the hotkey.

Accessibility (macOS only)

Required on macOS so Dimmy can paste the transcription into the focused app. Without it the text still lands in the clipboard but is not auto-pasted.

1. 1Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
2. 2Find Dimmy in the list and turn the switch on.
3. 3If Dimmy is not in the list, click the + and add it from /Applications/Dimmy.app.

What Dimmy never asks for

• Network access prompts. Dimmy talks to the public internet only when you turn on a cloud provider.
• Disk access beyond its own app data folder.
• Camera, contacts, location, photos, calendar, reminders. Never touched.
